This month on Kidsverse, the girls talk to Lesley, a director of film and television. Is the director the person who sits in the big chair? Do they have a megaphone? When she is making a film, how does she work out the order of the narrative? She talks about how editing is a really fun and cool part of the process. She also talks about her favourite film and how it still makes her cry. Spoiler alert - it was E.T
Lesley talks about filming on green screens and how images, and footage are replaced. Green screens basically let you drop in whatever background images you want behind the actors and/or foreground.
Lesley mentions about a TV show called Fame
, that was her favourite show when she was growing up.
Did you know that the shortest film ever made that was nominated for an Oscar was called ‘Fresh Guacamole’ by PES. It was an animated film and only 1 minute and 45 seconds long! It’s pretty awesome. Check it out here.
